“We can verify that a suspicious package was won at the U. S. Embassy in Madrid and we are aware of reports of parcels being sent to locations throughout Spain,” the embassy said in reaction to an investigation via the Associated Press news agency.
“We are grateful to the Spanish law enforcement for their attention in this case,” he added.
Authorities have cordoned off a giant domain around the embassy in the center of the Spanish capital.
Deputy Interior Minister Rafael Perez told reporters earlier Thursday that letter bombs were sent through five other offices, adding that the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid, a Spanish arms manufacturer and three government institutions were sent from the country.

The Interior Ministry said Thursday that an “envelope containing pyrotechnic material” addressed to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez won on Nov. 24 and was disarmed through his security team.
A “similar” package won Wednesday through the Ukrainian embassy, addressed to Ambassador Serhii Pohoreltsev and exploded when opened by a security official.

Another package won Wednesday night at the headquarters of Spanish arms manufacturer Instalaza in Zaragoza, northeastern Spain, police said.
Instalaza manufactures the C90 rocket launcher that Spain takes to Ukraine.
Spanish security forces also discovered a device early Thursday in an envelope sent to a European Union satellite center at an air base in Torrejon de Ardoz near Madrid, the Defense Ministry said.
