The United States faces a grim milestone: 200,000 COVID-19 deaths.
On Saturday, Johns Hopkins reported that 199,285 Americans had died from the virus, of which 5,467 are Arizonans.
“Has not having good enough testing in our state led to extraordinary deaths? Absolutely,” said Frank LoVecchio, an emergency physician at Valleywise in Phoenix.
LoVecchio says that in the early days of the pandemic, when control materials were scarce and in low demand, he and the rest of the medical staff skipped patient control.
“I said, look, we still have one or two kits left, this patient had a cardiac arrest because of Covid, why use a swab?”Said LoVecchio.
He says that the number of patients with COVID-19 and others with symptoms such as COVID-19 has been particularly minimized recently. LoVecchio says he is unsure of the precise cause of the decline in cases, but the maximum probably says this is due to the mask order in the city of Phoenix and continued social estating efforts.
In May, the United States surpassed 100,000 deaths, just four months after its first case. According to Johns Hopkins data, the United States leads the world with the number of coronavirus cases with 6. 7 million, followed by India with 5. 3 million.
