According to two U. S. officials, a total of 30 targets were hit at at least 10 other sites, CNN reported.
According to one official, the targets include command and control, an underground weapons garage, and weapons used by the Houthis to attack foreign industry channels.
“Our goal remains to ease tensions and restore stability in the Red Sea, but let us reiterate our warning to Houthi leaders: we will not hesitate to continue to protect lives and the smooth flow of industry in one of the most vital waterways. “The world’s leading critics of persistent threats,” said the United States and the United Kingdom along with Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands and New Zealand, according to CNN.
The Houthis’ moves in Yemen come a day after the U. S. carried out moves in Syria and Iraq on positions of Iran-linked defense forces.
Meanwhile, earlier Saturday, the United States intercepted six Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles before they could be introduced into the Red Sea, according to US Central Command.
The attacks in the following days came as the Biden administration prepared a “multi-layered” response to a drone strike that killed three US service members and injured many more over the weekend, according to CNN.
Almost precisely 24 hours after the first US munitions struck their targets in Iraq and Syria, the US launched further attacks in Yemen.
Saturday’s attacks on Houthi rebels in Yemen mark the third time in recent weeks that the US and UK have hit Houthi targets as part of a combined operation, according to CNN.
On 11 January, the two army forces attacked some 30 Houthi villages. Less than two weeks later, the U. S. and the U. K. hit eight more targets.
Previous operations targeted Houthi weapons garage facilities and radar facilities in an effort to undermine the Iranian-backed group’s ability to attack foreign shipping channels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, two of the world’s most important waterways.
The Houthi rebels, who are a group aligned with Iran, introduced these measures in retaliation for Israel’s confrontation in Gaza. The Houthis have said they will halt their attacks until Israel ends hostilities in Gaza. (ANI)
