Dubai: Two other people were arrested in Oman for posting obscene videos on social media and selling pornographic videos, local media reported.
The defendant allegedly filmed video clips for women who sell the sale of pornographic films on social media platforms.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Royal Oman Police said it had arrested the suspects, whose nationality has not been revealed.
Omani police suggested the public practice public morality and respect social principles and values, especially on social media.
Pornography is totally illegal in Oman. Previously, the Attorney General’s Office warned the public that it opposes the dissemination of pornography online or through any other data technology.
The Sultanate Public Prosecutor’s Office has stated that anyone who produces, displays, disseminates, publishes, buys, sells or imports pornography on the Internet or any other means of data generation will be imprisoned for one year and/or fined up to OMR 1,000.
A statement issued online through the Public Ministry said: “Producing, exhibiting, disseminating, publishing, buying, promoting or uploading pornographic clothing using the Internet or means of data generation, unless it has legal clinical or artistic purposes, is a crime punishable by deprivation of liberty of up to one year and a fine of up to OMR 1,000 or sanctions.
The penalty will be higher through a criminal sentence of up to 3 years and a fine of up to OMR 5,000 or one of the two consequences if the content comes from child pornography. The penalty includes those who use the Internet or data-generating media to download child pornography.
