Two Omanis drown in a flooded valley

Dubai: Two Omani men died after drowning in a flooded valley in Wilayat Al Rustaq in South Al Batinah governorate, media reported.

They were first rescued through citizens and taken to hospital, but were pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

This brings the total number of flash flood victims to 18, as the country has been affected by volatile weather conditions.

The Sultanate has experienced excessive weather in recent days.

The Ambulance and Civil Defence Authority (SADC) has suggested to the public to swim in flooded valleys, bodies of water and dangerous places.

Brigadier General Mohammed bin Nasser Al Kindi, director general of operations for the Royal Oman Police, said more than 40 people had been rescued in recent days.
