July 15—HAVERHILL/LAWRENCE—The Board of Trustees of the North Essex Community College Foundation recently welcomed two leaders with deep roots in the Merrimack Valley as new members.

Francis J. Bevilacqua III graduated from North Essex in 2000 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College. He is president of Bevilacqua Builds LLC, which focuses on real estate structure and development. Bevilacqua’s grandfather, Francis J. ” Bevi” Bevilacqua, a state representative in the 1960s and 1970s and helped bring North Essex to Haverhill in 1961 and then identified the site of the existing Haverhill campus.

Bevilacqua III has supported the United Way of Merrimack Valley and Mass Bay and is a board member of the Greater Haverhill Boys and Girls Club, the Greater Haverhill Chamber and the Greater Haverhill Foundation. He lives in Salisbury with his family.

Diane Martin, RPh, is senior vice president and chief pharmacy officer at Greater Lawrence Family Health Center. Martin expanded the downtown pharmacy from one pharmacy site in Lawrence in 2005 to six in Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill in 2020. He runs the COVID vaccination program, which has administered the vaccine to tens of thousands of citizens across the Merrimack Valley. Martin has partnered with Northern Essex to run several vaccination clinics on the Haverhill and Lawrence campuses.

Martin has received several awards, including the 2011 HRSA Outstanding Executive Leader Award, the 2011 HRSA Life-Saving Patient Safety Award, 2011, and the 2009 HRSA Technology Innovator of the Year Award, and the 2011 Technology Innovator of the Year award from Pharmacy Times and Parata Systems. She volunteers with Partners in Development, travels to Haiti and Guatemala, and is committed to providing pharmaceutical facilities and clinics in spaces affected by natural disasters. Originally from Lawrence, Martin now lives in Windham, New Hampshire, with her husband.

NECC Foundation Inc. es a non-profit organization that supports the school and its students. Incorporated in 1972, the Foundation helps NECC through connection with businesses, foundations and other potential revenue resources. It also organizes special events and fundraising events.

Funds raised are used for scholarships, appliance purchases, program revitalization efforts, college and development, and other wishes as they are submitted and approved through the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Board members are appointed for terms of several years.
