Two coronavirus testing centers without an appointment can open in York.
But they would probably not be in a position until the end of October at the very soon.
York Director of Public Health Sharon Stoltz called for an appointment-free center to be opened in the city as soon as possible and this week met with representatives of Deloitte, the company that manages government screening centers.
He said that no site had yet been selected, and that he was concerned that if the city only had one access center without an appointment, it would preferably be located for students, but not for citizens who cannot reach poppleton Bar Park and Ride Control Center. .
Ms. Stoltz said: “During this meeting, there was a discussion about 3 possible sites and for a center without an appointment. None of these sites were thought to be the best reaction to Deloitte’s requests.
“The Field Hospital site was known as a potential, however, there were also considerations about any non-appointment access site not only available to academics but also available to our communities.
“The team is now in two places without an appointment and said that once they have been selected, the verification center will take 3 to 4 weeks to build. “
He said the earliest thing you can decide about a site is October 4, adding, “I’m sure, as a board of directors, we’d make this happen faster than that. “
“I’m hopeful, but I’m not 100 percent sure and we’re going to have an operational site at the time. “
But a commercial case will have to be filed and other government centers that request exams without an appointment will have priority.
Central York Deputy Rachael Maskell called a pilot to the city for an immediate test.
Speaking in the House of Commons on Thursday, he said: “Our city’s reputation will have the protection of our city, and that’s why we want a formula of proof and traceability in York.
“I’m asking [the minister] to go to the Department of Health and Social Services that our city has a screening center without an appointment.
“It would be a game changer for tourism, because we can’t expect visitors arriving through the exercise to go to the center of the movie park for testing.
“We also know that many other people in our city will want to leave quickly, so not only am I asking for a no-date center, but we’re preparing a pilot for the quick tests they want to be introduced.
