Türkiye reports more than 6,700 patients with COVID-19

ANKARA

Turkey recorded 6,713 more coronavirus patients in the past 24 hours, according to Health Ministry data released on Monday.

New patients total 453,535.

As many as 3,254 patients also recovered in the past day, bringing the total to 377,891, while the number of deaths rose from 153 to 12,511.

More than 161,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the country, bringing the total to more than 17. 4 million.

The number of patients in critical condition now stands at 4,409.

In a tweet, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca suggested that everyone respect protective measures and access crowded spaces unless necessary.

“Support for the spread of the pandemic will continue until a vaccine is available,” he added.

Starting this week, Turkey imposed a partial curfew over the weekend from 8 p. m. at 10 a. m. m. hour.

The pandemic has claimed more than 1.39 million lives in 191 countries and regions since last December, according to the US’ Johns Hopkins University.

While the United States, India and Brazil are the worst-hit countries in terms of the number of cases, Europe is in the midst of a devastating wave of infections.
