Turkey’s Erdogan says COVID-19 vaccine will have to be for everyone

UNITED NATIONS – Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech to the United Nations on Tuesday that any long-term COVID-19 vaccine will be universally available regardless of where it is produced.

“I call once here for the procurement of medical devices and medicines, and for vaccination efforts not to be a matter of competence,” Erdogan said in a video of the United Nations General Assembly, which is conducting a virtual assembly due to the global coronavirus pandemic. “Regardless of the country in which they are produced, vaccines that are in a position to be administered must be presented for the unusual use of humanity,” he said.
