ISTANBUL (AP) – The number of new COVID-19 infections in Turkey peaked in forty-five days on Saturday, the country’s 1,256 new cases said.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Twitter that the number of critically ill patients, who usually suffer from underlying medical problems, also expands to 668 people.
The ministry said 21 other people had been killed by COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll shown to 5955.More than 248,000 people have tested positive for the virus in Turkey since March.Experts say, however, that all officials shown are underestimated due to limited evidence, lost minor cases, imaginable government manipulation and other factors.
The use of masks in public is mandatory in much of Turkey, but the country has lifted many restrictions in the past to curb the spread of the virus.
