ANKARA
Turkey and Egypt are in contact for the normalization of bilateral relations, the Turkish vice president said on Friday.
“The attitude that prioritizes our country’s cooperation in the region has resulted in a new era in bilateral relations with the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Israel. Our contacts with Egypt for the normalization of relations continue within the framework of the not unusual will and mutual interests of both sides and respect,” Fuat Oktay said in discussions on the Turkish parliament’s budget.
Just as Turkey makes the most powerful contribution to Azerbaijan’s war against Armenia, it will continue on the path in favor of the country on the table and on the ground, he said.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan shook hands and spoke to his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, at his assembly on Sunday in Qatar’s capital on the sidelines of the opening of the 2022 World Cup.
Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Egypt have remained at the point of chargé d’affaires on both sides since Egypt’s 2013 military coup that ousted President Mohamed Morsi.
