ANKARA
Turkey on Wednesday reported 9,561 more coronavirus cases, 660 symptomatic patients.
The total number of cases in the country has surpassed 2. 66 million, while the death toll now stands at 28,285, with 72 deaths recorded in the past day, according to the Ministry of Health.
Another 5,297 patients have won their war against the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to more than 2. 54 million.
More than 32. 68 million coronavirus tests have been carried out in Turkey, totalling 124,015 since Tuesday.
The latest data indicates that the number of COVID-19 patients in critical condition stands at 1,200.
Turkey launched a mass vaccination campaign against COVID-19 on January 14 and administered more than 7. 7 million vaccine doses on Wednesday.
Since last December, Turkey has imposed a weekday curfew and a full-weekend curfew to curb the spread of the virus.
Last week, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced that Turkey would begin normalizing coronavirus restrictions from March 1.
The pandemic has claimed more than 2. 48 million lives in 192 countries and since December 2019.
More than 112. 24 million cases have been reported worldwide, with more than 63. 38 million recoveries, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
The United States, India and Brazil are the most affected countries in terms of infections.
