Turkey Relocates 70 Sites Connected to Kurdish Teams in Syria and Iraq in Retaliation for Soldiers’ Deaths

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey’s defense minister said the military attacked more than 70 sites connected to Kurdish outfits in Syria and northern Iraq in air movements introduced in retaliation for the deaths of 12 Turkish infantrymen in Iraq. . Yasar Guler said Wednesday that at least 59 militants were killed in the movements and clashes. On Friday, militants affiliated with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) attempted to infiltrate a Turkish base in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of Iraq, killing six infantrymen. More people were killed in clashes the next day. The PKK has been waging an insurgency in Turkey for decades and is a terrorist organization through Turkey’s Western allies.
