Turkey appoints first district governor of Armenian origin

ANKARA

For the first time, Türkiye on Wednesday appointed a boy of Armenian descent as governor of a district.

Berk Acar, 27, will be the government’s representative in Babadag district, in the southwestern province of Denizli.

Acar worked like after graduating from Istanbul’s Bilgi University in 2020.

He qualified for the position after passing an exam organized through the country’s Ministry of the Interior with great success.
