ANKARA – Turkey and Armenia agreed in normalization talks between special representatives that the neighbors will start the direct air shipping industry with each other as soon as possible as they work to repair ties after decades of animosity.
Turkey has been working since December on normalizing relations with Armenia in coordination with Azerbaijan. The neighbors held a fourth circular of talks in Vienna on Friday, following the first meeting between their foreign ministers in years in March.
In a statement, Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said Ankara and Yerevan also agreed to allow third-country nationals to cross their common border as soon as possible and made the decision to initiate the mandatory procedure for this purpose. The special envoys also discussed other imaginable steps for “total normalization,” he said. (Reporting via Tuvan Gumrukcu Edit via Ezgi Erkoyun)
