Donald Trump took only a few days to abandon his so-called tone replacement. After just a few days of ensuring the usefulness of the mask and detecting the severity of the existing pandemic, on Monday the president retwed a message from Stella Immanuel, a Houston doctor who promotes hydroxychloroquine as a solution to COVID-19. “Covid has [a] cure,” the tweet says. “America is waking up.” Twitter deleted the message for violating its misinformation policy, but not before the president’s eldest son posted a video of the same doctor stating that other people “don’t want a mask” to fight the pandemic. Donald Trump’s account Jr.se temporarily suspended, a disciplinary action his father dodged because he did not post Emmanuel’s clips directly on the site. The social media company limited access to Trump Jr.’s video and asked him to delete it, writing that “tweets with the video violate our COVID-19 disinformation policy.”
There was a time when Trump said or tweeted the word “hydroxychloroquine” every day. But his obsession had declined lately, after several studies warned that the drug was not effective when used in patients with coronavirus. On Monday night, however, he subsidized, retwees another tweet accusing Dr. Anthony Fauci of lying to Americans about the effects of the drug, and reliving, through Emmanuel, his skepticism about protective masks. Immanuel helped fan the flames, even “making the dog dare” to have Fauci send him urine samples to discover that he himself was taking hydroxychloroquine. Immanuel, whose video of Trump Jr.was hailed as a “to watch” source about the coronavirus before his Twitter account suspension, has amassed tens of millions of perspectives on his most recent COVID-19 videos, one of which has now been removed via Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. But the self-proclaimed doctor and minister of release has a history of medical chatter. In the past, he has claimed that physical fitness disorders such as cysts, endometriosis, miscarriages and infertility are the result of patients having “astral sex” with demonic “non-secular husbands” and “non-secular wives” in their dreams, according to the Daily Beast. Immanuel, a Cameroonian immigrant who is said to have gained her medical education in Nigeria, went so far as to advance conspiracy theories about the global leader through an Illuminati clique of reptile humanoids, David Icke. According to the Daily Beast, he also believes that the human world is in danger through abortion, children’s toys and television screens, including, but not limited to, Pokémon; Harry Potter; and Hannah Montana of the Disney Channel, and same-sex marriage, which she called “homosexual terrorism” some time before the 2015 Supreme Court decision. Another fear is that the medical government and scientists will be “extraterrestrial DNA to treat people” and conspire to impose microchips on the world population.
Despite Trump’s claim that masks are an unnecessary precaution, Immanuel, in a Facebook video pronouncing his medical services, begged prospective patients to wear “a mask, shawl or anything to cover their faces” before seeking treatment.
