President Donald Trump’s crusade used russian and Slovenian archives in a virtual ad designed to convince the electorate that the United States is recovering from the coronavirus pandemic.
This is the most recent example of Trump’s crusade and photographs of pro-Trump teams from other countries in their ads. Trump’s crusade seeks to link his Democratic rival Joe Biden to China and blow up his son Hunter Biden’s previous business. Intelligence agencies say Russia is seeking to meddle in the 2020 elections.
Photo ads from Russia and Slovenia were first reported to CNBC through the US Super Democratic Bridge PAC. But it’s not the first time Trump’s crusade spent more than $4 million between October 14 and 20 on Facebook ads, according to the site’s ad tracking.
The crusade pushed back a request for comment.
One of the most recent classified Facebook ads from Trump’s crusade features photographs of foreign archives from Russia and Slovenia, is located on the Crusade’s Facebook page between October 15 and 16 and is now inactive, according to Facebook’s advertising records.
The ad depicted an American flag, then a scene of what appears to be a silent box somewhere in the United States.
The clip in this box comes from Slovenia, according to the photographer who posted the clip on Pond5, an online page that collects images and videos. The photographer’s call indexed on the online page is Airstock. CNBC contacted the photographer via Pond5’s message. portal and I was told that “it was filmed in Slovenia and I am from Slovenia. “
The same photos can also be taken on other media sites, such as deposit photos. These accounts also qualify as Slovenia.
Voiceover of the ad reads: “In the face of a test like no other, the United States does what we do,” while the clip continues at the box level in Slovenia. He goes on to say, “We’re up to it. Thanks to President Trump’s ambitious actions, we are about to produce a Covid-19 vaccine faster than anyone would have imagined. “
As the ad says, “Together we will defeat this virus”, a woman who appears to be a doctor appears on the screen. A review of Shutterstock photographs shows that the doctor appears to be from a photographer’s account with the online call Of Right Cameraman. Following an investigation by CNBC, Right Cameraman said in an email that the woman posing as by a doctor in the clip was “an actress, filmed in Russia in a studio. “
The Russian-based photographer also stated that he did not know that his video was being used in the ad until CNBC contacted him.
The ad, according to Facebook’s advertising data, shows that the files did not make many impressions. More than 30% of the other people who saw the ad were women between the ages of 55 and 64; 27% of them were men of the same age group.
Another virtual announcement of Trump’s crusade with file photographs derived from Russia has already been posted on Google. He tried to paint Biden as a strong best friend of Chinese President Xi Jinping and warned that if he was president, that loyalty would lead to loss of American duties. .
A scene from a plane flying over a Beijing signal has been known through Pond5 as being produced in Russia. The user who posted the scene says on the online page “Envato Market” that it was founded outdoors in the Russian Federation.
Google’s transparency report, which tracks the amount of cash spent on Google ads, indicates that the ad ran for five days until about October 19, focused on Michigan’s battlefield state, and generated up to 100,000 impressions. Google says it charges the crusade up to $1,000.
