Tropical Watch: Meteorologists monitor four tropical waves, 2 in the Caribbean

As Tropical Storm Estelle hits the Pacific, everything in the Atlantic remains calm, according to the latest recommendation from the National Hurricane Center.

No new tropical cyclones are expected in the Atlantic basin in the coming days.

There are 4 tropical waves monitored through the Hurricane Center, two in the Caribbean.

Here is the NHC update at 8 a. m. of July 19:

Tropical Wave 1: A tropical wave near the Cape Verde Islands moves westward at 21 km/h.

Tropical Wave 2: A tropical wave in the central Atlantic is east of the British Virgin Islands. It moves west at 23 mph.

Tropical Wave 3: A tropical wave in the central Caribbean extends from southern Haiti to northern Colombia. It heads west at 17 mph.

Tropical Wave 4: A tropical wave in the western Caribbean extends from the island of Cozumel in southwestern Honduras to the Pacific Ocean. It is moving west at 17 mph.

It’s too early for now to determine whether tropical waves will have an effect on the United States.

Meteorologists urge all citizens to continue monitoring the tropics and be prepared during what deserves to be an active hurricane season.
