All travelers entering Greece from an airport in the United Arab Emirates must provide a negative molecular result (PCR) for coronavirus (Covid-19) upon arrival.
The check must be carried out up to 72 hours before travellers enter Greece, an announced on Friday a new aviation directive (NOTAM) from the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA).
The NOTAM extends the same rule to all travelers arriving in Greece by air from Bulgaria and Romania.
The new directive has been announced to restrict coronavirus in Greece.
In force until Saturday 15 August (midnight), the new directive states that passengers from the United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria and Romania must provide a negative molecular verification result (PCR) for the coronavirus in English, from a qualified diagnostic centre, to the Greek screening authorities. The result of the check must come with your passport or identity details.
It should be noted that airlines will need to check if passengers have a covid-19 negative check before the flight. Otherwise, passengers will not be allowed on board. Airlines that fail to comply with this legal responsibility will be guilty of repatriation of passengers on their own.
Greek citizens, permit holders and those travelling for essential reasons are excluded from the directive.
Another NOTAM prolonged the temporary suspension of flights to and from Turkey until Saturday, August 15 (11:59 p.m.).
Regarding flights from Albania and North Macedonia, the directive permits all flights from both countries to land only at Athens International Airport (AIA) until Saturday, August 15 (23:59).
In addition, a third NOTAM extended the ban of entry to Greece by non-EU nationals until Friday, August 14 (midnight).
The following 12 countries are excluded from the directive: Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay and the United Arab Emirates.
It is reminded that all travelers to Greece are still obliged to complete the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) 24 hours before entering the country.
According to the commands of the Greek Ministry of Health, the Greek National Organization for Public Health (EODY) and the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, a Covid-19 pattern is performed randomly on passengers on foreign flights arriving in Greece.
It is worth noting that in his speech to parliament on Friday, Greek Deputy Minister of Health Vasilis Kotzamanis said that the physical fitness government was conducting 9,000 unique tests a day at the country’s ports of entry.
