Travelers from Brazil and 12 countries banned in Italy due to coronavirus fears

Italy on Thursday banned travellers from Brazil and 12 other countries that it considers to be on the biggest threat of COVID-19 transmission.

The complete list of Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Brazil, Chile, Dominican Republic, Kuwait, Northern Macedonia, Moldova, Oman, Panama and Peru.

The Ministry of Health signed the decree prohibiting these countries from entering Italy in accordance with the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Transport.

“Around the world, the pandemic has entered a more acute phase,” health minister Roberto Speranza said.

“We have given up the sacrifices made through the Italians in recent months,” he added.

Italy, the first country affected by the virus after printing in China late last year.

Nearly 35,000 more people have been killed by the virus in Italy, according to official figures, from more than 242,000 cases.

Coronavirus has been slowed with 12 new deaths reported on Thursday, up from 15 the day before.

According to an AFP count, Brazil suffered the highest number of coVID-19 deaths outdoors than the United States, with only about 68,000 deaths.
