Travel to South America: 8 countries that have COVID-19 regulations for tourists

South America bucked the trend when COVID barriers fell around the world. Although almost all countries have eased restrictions, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador insist on RT-PCR before unvaccinated tourists arrive on their shores.

Argentina and Venezuela are among the exceptions, as they open their doors to visitors without COVID vaccinations or tests upon arrival. All countries need other people to wear face masks in public shipping and indoor spaces.

Here is a list of 8 South American countries that are vacationers’ favorites.

Form Requirements: Passengers will need to complete the Mandatory International Traveler Affidavit and provide the same identity number used for the vaccine validation form. Passengers will also need to carry their fitness insurance certificate. Hard copies are not accepted. Passengers traveling to Easter Island (Rapa Nui) must complete the Single Entry Form.

COVID-19 Check: A negative PCR test result received 72 hours prior to departure, or a negative antigen test result verified 48 hours prior to departure is required. Proof is required for passengers with a vaccination certificate.

Departure requirements: Passengers must register on the Check-Mig online page between 72 hours and 1 hour before travel.

Masks: All passengers must wear masks with double or higher filtration capability (N95, KN95, FFP2, KF94). Plastic protectors are recommended.

Health Form: Passengers must complete a “Declaration of Health Honor” form or a “Geolocation Authorization” form within 72 hours of travel.

Vaccination: mandatory

COVID-19 Test: Negative RT-PCR effects received within 72 hours prior to departure are required for passengers traveling to Caracas’ Simon Bolivar International Airport.
