PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan—Palawan Philippine-China Chamber of Commerce President Pan Ming Yuan expects tourism in the province to continue its expansion this year as the economy frequently recovers from the negative effect of COVID. -19 pandemic.
International guest arrivals to the Philippines reached 5. 45 million in 2023, exceeding the target of 4. 8 million set through the Department of Tourism.
“Hotels and resorts are a big investment in the province,” said Pan, who is also president of the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Club in Palawan.
Pan expressed hope that the government will provide more assistance to promote tourism, adding roads and bridges to reach remote tourist sites and offering lower water and electricity rates.
Palawan has quickly become a popular tourist destination due to its pristine beaches, islands, and clear waters.
Pan said that although the Filipino-Chinese network in Palawan is small, they are doing their best to contribute to society at large, especially during the pandemic period when they have donated medical supplies.
