Top 10 Holiday Destinations in 2024, and One European Island Enjoyed by Brits Is on the List

CHOOSING a holiday destination is rarely very straightforward, with so many features to choose from.

However, new numbers have emerged showing which destinations will be the most productive in 2024, to give you some inspiration.

The data, released by holiday rentals company Airbnb, has highlighted some surprising destinations that are going to be big next year.

And it looks like the coming year holds many surprises and new emerging trends, adding adventures in Japan, celebrations in Brazil and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In the meantime, some of the holiday favorites will remain clearly favorites among tourists.

The list was compiled based on global searches conducted between January 1, 2023 and September 30, 2023 for a long period between certain dates next year.

Topping Airbnb’s list of vacation destinations for 2024 is Indianapolis, USA. The inclusion of which might come as a surprise to many.

The city is known for its 500-mile Indy 500 car race, which takes place every May.

Other highlights of the city include the Children’s Museum, its central canal, and Benjamin Harrison’s presidential site.

The second destination on the list is an emerging destination for a city break in Europe, where the Polish capital is gaining popularity.

One thing Warsaw has to offer in abundance is food, with pierogi (Polish dumplings) and borscht among the city’s most beloved dishes.

Meanwhile, the historic center and the many palaces and ornate buildings make it one of the most important capitals on the continent.

Since it reopened its doors to travellers after the Covid-19 pandemic, Japan has rocketed in popularity and it seems people are keen on discovering the country beyond Tokyo.

In third and fourth position respectively, Osaka and Kyoto top people’s wish lists for the coming year.

Osaka is well known for its food culture, with dishes such as okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancakes), udon noodles, and teppanyaki grilled food being popular.

Meanwhile, Kyoto’s ancient capital is traditionally fascinating, with sites like Nijo Castle and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine at the top of the agenda.

Like Indianapolis, Buenos Aires is developing as a sports tourism destination, with prominent soccer clubs such as Boca Juniors and River Plate topping the agenda for boxing fans.

Its colorful neighborhoods, gaucho-inspired cuisine, and tango dancing are also popular reasons to visit the Argentinian capital.

Marrakech is close to the UK, with flights of less than 4 hours, but it feels like another world.

Its endless winding streets, ornate gardens and palaces, deserts, and the Atlas Mountains make it a wonderful place to visit.

Meanwhile, the market stalls of Jemaa el-Fnaa are a must-see for any visitors.

Salvador is becoming a popular holiday destination for other people traveling to Brazil, and the city is known as the “cultural epicenter” of the country.

One of the main reasons to visit Salvador is for its carnival, said to be one of the most authentic in the country.

Some say that “the true African flavor of the Brazilian carnival tradition” can be felt at Salvador’s Carnival.

Paris is always a popular holiday destination, but more people than normal are hoping to head to the French capital this year.

The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11 and other people from around the world will flock to watch a clash between some of the world’s biggest athletes.

Sights such as the Eiffel Tower, the Sacré Coeur, and the Louvre are some of the things you will be able to appreciate during your stay.

Düsseldorf, like many German cities, is known for its beer, and the city is popular with deer.

Their dark, malty local beer may not be the most popular in the country, but it’s enjoyed in the city.

Those who don’t just drink alcohol can also make a stop at the Rheinturm tower and the Königsallee, a landscaped urban thoroughfare and canal.

The Canary Islands are an incredibly touristy destination, especially among the British.

Puerto del Carmen is one of the most popular places on the islands due to its sandy beaches, crystal blue sea, and year-round weather.

Dolphin watching is a popular activity, but the city also has a colorful nightlife, with numerous bars and restaurants.

It is currently the world’s leading holiday destination.

And those are the maximum vacation package destinations in 2023.
