Next year’s Olympic Athletes’ Village can be used to treat competition and coaches suspected of having a coronavirus.
Kyodo News understands that Tokyo 2020 organizers are contemplating offering the village for “health center” purposes to inflamed people.
Citing officials who “know the situation,” the Japanese news firm reports that there is a proposal to create an independent COVID-19 centre for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The plan is expected to be in an assembly at the end of this month involving the Japanese government, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo 2020.
It is also understood through Kyodo News that a special unit would be established to collect data on COVID-19 in the Games.
More than 10,000 people are expected to use athletes’ village and Tokyo 2020 officials are taking steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
