NEW YORK CITY (WABC) – In this episode of “Tiempo,” airing on Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, we speak with New York City Department of Corrections Commissioner Louis Molina.
He is the first Latino commissioner of the DOC in the branch’s 126-year history and talks about his plans for the branch and his path to the position there.
In addition, Hurricane Fiona crossed the Caribbean week and hit Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, leaving in its wake a history of destruction.
The typhoon’s torrential rains and severe flooding uprooted bridges and infrastructure and cut power to the island.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, along with the county and chiefs, are sending personnel, relief and aid to the affected areas.
This is a scenario we are following closely, and Luis Muñiz, president of the Hispanic Cultural Foundation in Yonkers, joins us in communicating more about the fluid stage on the island; Ulises Clavell, Gogo Pediatric Institute, Ponce; and Raymond Rassi, a resident of the town of Arecibo.
