Wearing a face mask has become the new general in the era of the Covid-19 coronavirus. In addition, new original masks and accessories are launched, each with a unique touch or practical functionality. The most recent access to the list is a new and wise mask from the Japanese company Donut Robotics, which also acts as a translator.
The translator face mask, known as the C-Face Smart Mask, connects wirelessly via Bluetooth to a smartphone or pill and pairs with a compromised app. When the user speaks through the mask, the application can transcribe their words into translated text. In addition, the mask can also make phone calls or accentuate the voice of the speaker. Currently, the wise mask can translate Japanese into 8 languages: English, Chinese, Korean, French, Spanish, Bahasa Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese.
The concept of C-Face Smart Mask was born as Donut Robotics in search of an artistic way to help other people, and the company itself, to overcome the pandemic. To fund the development, Donut Robotics sold shares of the company through a crowdfunding site, raising a total of 28 million yen.
The mask will be introduced for the first time in Japan in September, with the aim of later expanding to China, Europe and the United States. In Japan, the mask will cost around ¥ 3,980 each. This mask could be the best device for globetrotters, provided foreignness is back on the agenda, of course.
