Thirdly: many Argentines who already had Covid were reinfected with Ómicron

While before the exception, it is now remodeled into a concrete possibility. Every time they have Covid again, they become reinfected. We have been listening because someone we know or a friend of a friend has passed away. Now the figures have shown it.

Since the beginning of the pandemic and until December 10, those reinfected constitute less than 1. 5% of the total infections. However, the curve of cases widened this year and there was a jump among those who were flying towards the positive.

Solo ese mes, el 13% de los infectados ya había tenido el virus, según fuentes del Ministerio de Salud de la Nación. En el 99,5% de estos casos, el contagio previo se había registrado más de tres meses atrás.

In total, this year there have been 2,496,295 cases, according to data from the fitness card. From there, 324,518 re-ignited. Between March 2020 and December 10, 2021, infections had reached 77,391 and accounted for less than 1. 5% of the total infections (at the moment, those infected numbered 5,361,967).

El incremento no fue solo porcentual: de menos de 1,5% a 13%, sino que incluso se evidencia en números absolutos, en un solo mes hubo cuatro veces más reinfectados reportados que en más de un año y medio.

How can we develop exponential growth in this type of case?

“These are experiencing the explosion of cases during the last month. It is the photo of Omicron,” Jorge Geffner, professor of Immunology and principal researcher at Conicet, told Clarín.

According to the specialist, the change in the flow of variants, from Delta to Ómicron, begins between now and the 3rd week of December and the consequences will be observed in January.   “Today, in the AMBA, more than 95% of other inflammations are through Ómicron. “In Córdoba, for example, there are more than 90%,” he says.

Because “infections are very common on Micron, but they are 3 to 6 times more transmissible than Delta” and the main points of the past contagion occurred more than 3 months later, we should probably be irritated at the time with Delta. or Manaus and that this power counteracts Omicron.

Arnaldo Casiró, head of the Infectious Diseases Service at the Álvarez Hospital, agrees that the maximum number of infections is one micron and a key element.

“Hay que pensar que la ola de Ómicron nos encontró cuando recién empezábamos a aplicar las terceras dosis, que resultaban necesarias para minimizar las reinfecciones”, remarca.

Y sostiene que “cuando surgen nuevas variantes existe la posibilidad de volver a contraer la enfermedad”. “Tengo pacientes que tuvieron Covid tres veces”, cuenta.

At the same time, we know that the scarcity of infections and reinfections does not translate into larger borders. “It’s really important. There are far fewer people hospitalized than during other times of the pandemic. It can be seen with the vaccines and also with this variant,” answered Álvarez’s reference.

Looking ahead, Geffner doesn’t think there are infections in the bodies of patients that tend to have a micron, but it’s obviously unimaginable to know how long the correctors that generate infection with this variant last. The other point to note is that there are no new applicable mutations.

“We can’t stay glued to the next photo because we have all that. The source of income is felt and the explanation is the arrival of Omicron,” he insists.

About vaccination I wrote: “We know that the whole picture protects us well against serious diseases. The coverage is 20 times greater than that of an unvaccinated person. And he will be mayor 35 times with the offer, according to what the US CDC and European publications know.

En tanto, agrega, “contra la infección leve la protección es de 3 a 4 veces mayor con las tres dosis en relación a una persona no vacunada”.

“It is the latter that means that the situation is greater without avoiding infections. Therefore, other people with two or three doses may also appear in the activity report among the other reinfected people,” closes Geffner.
