Third COVID-19 reported in Eddy County

The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) announced coVID-19’s third death in Eddy County.

She said the woman had been hospitalized because of the disease and had underlying conditions.

“This patient didn’t die for our care, so I’m not sure it’s right for us to provide more information,” said Melissa Suggs, spokeswoman for Carlsbad Medical Center.

The first two deaths in Eddy County reported to Artesia.

An old man died in March. He is the first whose death is similar to COVID-19.

Albert Reyes was in his 50s when he died in July at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. His wife Kim Reyes said he had been fighting COVID-19 symptoms for nearly a month.

THE DOH reported new cases in Eddy County on Tuesday, with a total of 233 cases in Eddy County.
