Thief with positive coronavirus, headache for Indian police, infecting 30 policemen

Patna: A thief inflamed with a coronavirus has a big headache for the Indian state police of Jharkhand. It has inflamed up to 30 police officers, which has so far led to the closure of two police stations.

The thief was trapped stealing 150 rupees from a grocery store in the town of Hazaribagh ten days ago, after which he was forced to undergo a coronavirus test. The thief tested positive and this turned out to be bad news for the police.

In the last 10 days since his arrest, he has escaped police custody three times and in his efforts to catch him, dozens of police officers have become inflamed with the virus. Panic gripped police when the thief threatened to touch them and the infection if they tried to arrest him and send him to prison.

He first escaped COVID-19 at a government hospital in Hazarighabh, where he came in after giving positive. Police said the outlaw fled after opening an air vent at the hospital. Although the police caught him in less than an hour, he accused them a lot because 29 police officers became inflamed in this process.

After being arrested for the time being, he re-entered the COVID-19 ward of the same hospital. Two days later, he fled, this time jumping out of his bathroom window. Police arrested him again after a 30-hour chase.

This time, the police were very vigilant and tried to admit it to the safer Rajendra Medical Science Institute (RIMS) in Ranchi, about a hundred miles from Hazaribagh. However, while being transported in an ambulance, he jumped out of the ambulance under the canopy of darkness.

After locating a stranger lurking, local villagers asked him about his identity and threatened to infect them with coronavirus by touching or spitting on them. The villagers temporarily informed the police, who came to the scene and arrested the thief.

“He’s got a puzzle for us. He escaped from police custody three times in 10 days,” Hazaribagh District Police Commissioner Karthik S said Saturday.
