• The U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)U. S. health and drug companies have stated that there is no cause of disease more severe than JN. 1.
•However, it is possible that the variant simply increases the burden of respiratory infections in many countries.
The Ministry of Health is conducting surveillance to track the effect of the JN. 1 Covid strain in the country.
However, Surgeon General Patrick Amoth said on Thursday that existing knowledge is not a cause for alarm at the moment.
JN. 1 became known as an attractive variant in December last year.
According to specialized reviews and analyses, the JN. 1 variant is a descendant of BA. 2. 86 that has acquired the ability to successfully transmit one or two more mutations.
It shows that their parents’ immune evasion has now mutated to be transmitted more efficiently.
“Covid has been there with us since day one it was declared a pandemic. The new JN. 1 variant is a subvariant of the omicron variant,” Amoth said.
“We are passively tracking from our tracking sites and the numbers are not a cause for concern,” he said.
Director-General Extra noted that the country can cope with any fitness emergency based on the capabilities developed during the Covid-19 pandemic and the classes learned then.
The U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a statement of intent and prevention. U. S. health and drug protection have stated that there is no cause of more severe disease.
However, it is possible that the variant will simply increase the burden of respiratory infections in many countries.
The extra CDC noted that COVID symptoms tend to be similar from variant to variant, and that symptoms and severity depend more on the person’s immunity than the variant.
The WHO warned in December that the variant could lead to a surge in Covid cases amid a surge in infections from other viral and bacterial infections, specifically in countries entering the winter season.
“We’ve created a fitness formula that’s resilient, physically powerful, and strong enough to be able to triumph over any variant that Covid throws at us. We’re scouring the area, but there’s nothing to worry about right now,” Amoth said.
As of December 16, 2023, 7344 JN. 1 sequences have been submitted to the Global Initiative to Share All Influenza Data (GISAID) from countries.
The number of sequences came from France, the United States, Singapore, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Sweden.
The WHO noted, however, that the existing immunity of the global population will be effective against the symptomatic and severe variant of the disease.
