Production on the upcoming third season of The Witcher has been delayed due to Covid.
Netflix said filming had “suspended due to Covid,” adding that “they will be operational as soon as it is imaginable to do so safely. “
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the show’s leader, Henry Cavill, allegedly contracted Covid himself, the production has not addressed this speculation.
Covid had in the past caused a production to delay filming the season of the moment of the hit fantasy series.
Production stopped in March 2020 and only resumed in August of the same year. Then filming stopped a while later when 4 other people running on the screen tested positive.
Season 3 of The Witcher has no date yet.
Adapted from The Fantasy e-book series by Poland’s Andrzej Sapkowski (which also spawned a successful video game franchise), The Witcher stars Cavill as the mythical monster killer Geralt of Riv.
A prequel miniseries, titled The Witcher: Blood Origin, will be released later this year.
