The University of Chile delivers a new study plan “Vaccines in times of COVID-19”

UAbierta, the University of Chile’s open and online courses platform, will deliver a new curriculum that will address the global COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccination process that is being taken in Chile and other countries.   “Vaccines in times of COVID-19” is the number of this new program promoted through the #EmpatíaesVida campaign of the “Empathy Movement”, an initiative of the University of Chile that seeks to disseminate vaccination and network health coverage.  

El curso comenzará sus clases en el mes de julio y tiene una duración programada de cuatro módulos distribuidos en un mes. En él, los y las participantes podrán ahondar en temas como la historia de las vacunas, su creación y funcionamiento, las variantes del SARS CoV2 surgidas en el último tiempo, además de otras interrogantes formuladas en torno a la pandemia, junto a destacadas académicas y académicos de la Universidad de Chile.

Dr. Vivian Luchsinger, a member of the technical team at the University of Chile and educational coordinator of this initiative, said that her curriculum “has contributed to the knowledge of vaccinated people and the existing viral pandemic, facilitating the understanding of the abundance of public data that is available and informed decision-making. “

María Elena Acuña, general coordinator of the UAbierta, highlights the contribution of the angels of this course that seeks to bring scientific knowledge closer to the society of the angels and strengthen the citizen participation of the angels in the containment of the pandemic of the angels. “We have worked with the angels and the academics, so that the citizens can understand how the angels vaccines are generated, in addition to the angels importance of addressing aspects such as the efficacy and effectiveness of these,” he explains.

In this way, the online platform UAbierta – which has more than 279 million participants from 179 countries – has worked for the democratization of knowledge, since it is the purpose and the main cause of the project. This opportunity is part of the #EmpatíaesVida of the “Empathy Movement” Campaign, an initiative of the University of Chile that seeks to provide the population with truthful data about the pandemic with simple language to act in a network in this regard.
