Jean Jacques “JJ” Wallis spends much of his time searching for his next overkill adventure in his local South Africa. But as a professional skydiver, BASE Jumper and Wing Flyer, adventure discovers him first.
Wallis founded BASE Jump Africa in 2017, an online network where adrenaline junkies and other foreign air sports professionals seek to connect with him for his expertise.
“I’m happy to give them as much data as I can,” Wallis says. “Spreading data freely is a smart thing to do, because it can save more people and bring everyone to a point of competition. “
Introduced to air sports at a young age, he received his skydiving license right out of high school and began working in the film and television industry, acting and filming his own stunts for commercials.
Wallis’ 20 years have paid off. He recently participated in the airdrops of the “Mission: Impossible” film franchise with actor Tom Cruise.
“It’s super cool, it’s definitely the next point of my (CV) movie,” he says, adding that it was also “a little nerve-wracking, just making sure the parachutes were perfectly packed every time. “
As an advocate for safety, Wallis hopes his wisdom will give more people the confidence to participate in air sports.
“Man has been intrigued by the idea of seeing the world from another perspective,” he says. “A lot of people think we’re crazy for doing these things, but in reality, we think most people are crazy for not looking. “these things. “
