EREVAN, JUNE 10, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan won over the ministers of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Secretary General of the CSTO, Stanislav Zas, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
Addressing the participants in the meeting, the Armenian Prime Minister said: “Dear friends, I welcome you to our country, to our capital. I welcome the consultation of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CSTO in our country.
This year, we celebrate a double jubilee as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 20th anniversary of the status quo of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. It is a wonderful emotion to see that in this Jubilee Year, the momentum we have historically had is restored after the coronavirus pandemic. And as we have said many times, I think this Jubilee is a very smart opportunity to look at how far we have come, highlight our achievements and successes and communicate about shortcomings. that the lifestyles and activity of our organization have been observed.
You know that the CSTO is one of the key points to ensure the security of our countries, and I will have to say with remorse that the scenario under the duty of our organization is not so stable. In this context, I believe that we will have to cooperate closely, exchange data and evaluate the scenario to use crisis prevention and control mechanisms at the mandatory time.
I would also like to point out that we are very pleased to host various CSTO occasions with this intensity. Recently, we organized the consultation of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CSTO in Yerevan, and now we are organizing this vital event. We are waiting for the secretaries of the security councils of the CSTO states on June 17. These are smart opportunities to communicate and communicate about our organization’s calendar.
I would like to welcome him and look forward to a productive consultation and time in our republic. “
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pashinyan also discussed the existing scenario in the region, referring to the activity of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Commission on Security and Delimitation of the Border, the opening of regional communications and the return of prisoners of war, hostages and other Armenian civilians. still detained. In this context, Pashinyan under pressure from the foreign community.
The Prime Minister said that Armenia is interested in unlocking regional communications and that all roads, to be opened, will have to function under the sovereignty of the country they cross. He said there may simply not be a “broker” logic, and that’s a not unusual perception. In the context of the nagorno-Karabakh confrontation agreement, the Armenian Prime Minister considered the prestige factor of Nagorno-Karabakh to be important and declared that the confrontation would be resolved peacefully, within the framework of the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group.
Pashinyan said that the factor of the incursion of Azerbaijani troops into the sovereign territory of Armenia since May 2021, on which Armenia has submitted an application to the CSTO, still remains open. In this context, perspectives were exchanged on the CSTO’s immediate reaction and follow-up mechanisms. , which will strengthen the effectiveness of the organisation’s activity and service to the security challenges of the member states.
