MANILA, Philippines – There are currently a total of 220,819 cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, and the Ministry of Health (DOH) reported an additional 3,446 infections on Monday.
Of the new infections, 2965 or 86% occurred in the last two weeks. The main regions with instances in the last two weeks were the NCR (1528 or 52%), region 4A (442 or 15%) Region 3 (275 or 9%)
Of the 38 deaths, 31 occurred in August, In July and 3 in June.
Meanwhile, there are now 59,699 assets across the country.
Active cases are patients who are still inflamed with COVID-19 and in the hospital or who are currently quarantined.
The DOH also revealed that there were 23 duplicate cases that had been removed from the previous count, four of which were marked as recoveries.
“In addition, there were two (2) cases that in the past had been reported as cured, but after the final validation, those were deaths,” the DOH said.
President Rodrigo Duterte must face the country on Monday night to announce the prestige of quarantine after August 31 in other parts of the country.
