New coronavirus cases rose nine in Utah in the week ending Sunday, with the state adding 7388 cases. Last week, there were 6776 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Utah ranked 14th among the states where the coronavirus spread the fastest, according to a study by Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY data network. Over the past week, coronavirus cases in the United States increased 11. 8% from Beyond the Week, with 800,077 cases reported. With 0. 96 percent of the nation’s population, Utah recorded 0. 92 percent of the nation’s cases last week. Nationwide, 38 states have had more cases in the past week than in the past week.
In Utah, the worst weekly outbreaks per user occurred in Salt Lake County with 272 cases per 100,000 per week; Davis County with 258; and Summit County with 249. The Centers for Disease Control says the highest levels of network transmission start at 100 instances per 100,000 per week.
The addition of the largest number of new instances in all of Salt Lake County, with 3151 instances; Utah County, with 1215 instances; and Davis County, with 918. The number of weekly instances increased in five counties compared to last week. Last week’s worst speed increases occurred in Salt Lake, Utah and Davis counties.

In Utah, another 18 people were reported to have died of COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. Last week, it was reported that another 10 people were killed.
A total of 982,895 people in Utah have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 4,834 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 87,843,561 more people tested positive and 1,017,848 other people died.
