“The next 10 years will be for Bangladesh to fight climate change and poverty”

The next decade is very important for Bangladesh to prepare, adapt and societies, economies and all ecosystems, as the world now faces a triple interconnected crisis: the climate emergency, immediate damage to biodiversity and excessive poverty, said FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin.

The personal sector has a key role to play, whether it’s mitigating the potential damage caused by a carbon-intensive global economy and localizing new, cutting-edge catalytic tactics to adapt to climate change, he said.

The President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) did this during a panel discussion on “Investing in Gabon: Climate and Sustainable Finance” at the Commonwealth Trade

Bangladesh is willing to work with Gabon, a country on the west coast of Africa in the circular economy sector, the FBCCI president said.

Jashim Uddin said that he is convinced that the adaptation of the concept of circular economy and green economy, the formulas of a waste control policy, the projects of progression and automation of ports, multimodal transport methods and large infrastructure progression projects will make it possible to achieve sustainable climate and finance.

To succeed at the next point of development, Bangladesh wants more local and foreign investment, he noted.

It is vital for investments in greener technologies and data-driven production strategies aligned with the Fourth Industrial Revolution in production sectors, he suggested.

Developing and emerging economies are concentrating on inventions in policies, regulations and criteria to shape a greener and more inclusive monetary system, he said.
