NO ‘MONEY BULLET’ AGAINST CORONAVIRUS, WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION CHIEF WARNS
“The idea that there were at least six other types of strains and it was the main one that took over,” epidemiologist Dr. Ravina Kullar told Fox News.
“It is idea that this mutated strain is more communicable/contagious than the original strain, however, this has only been shown in the lab, where it has been shown to have more viral load,” said Kullar, a member of the Society of Infectious Diseases of America, added.
Kullar referred to two studies published in the Journal Cell that, in his opinion, warned that “this mutated strain was 10 times more infectious than the original strain but less deadly.” The infectious disease specialist warned that an epidemiological examination should be done to verify these effects in people, not just a laboratory.
A virus starts very virulent and fatal and slowly mutates so that the host survives, Kullar said.
“This he must live in an inactive state on the host and potentially reappear later,” he said.
Kullar noted that additional studies are needed to assess the mortality point of the mutated viral strain. He wonders whether the increase in cases is not due to the actual tension, but to the fact that other people do not respect the regulations of social estrangement.
“More knowledge is needed in Americans (not just in the lab) that demonstrate that this virus is adjusting less and less deadly. I that the highest have probably already been affected and now we see more young Americans affected through massive concentrations/ festivals (inside and out) and we, the doctors, are improving in the treatment of patients with COVID-19,” said the infectious disease specialist.
Dr. Paul Tambyah, an infectious disease expert, told Reuters that the knowledge that the proliferation of the D614G mutation has coincided with a decrease in mortality rates in some parts of the world.
“It may be smart to have a more infectious but less fatal virus,” Tambyah, who is also president-elect of the International Society of Infectious Diseases and a high-level representative at the National University of Singapore, told the media.
Virus mutations are common, experts told Fox News.

“Virus settings occur all the time. Which is that we tracked those strains,” WHO told Fox News in its email, noting that “a working organization is reading adjustments (mutations) in the virus to perceive which strain behaves differently. “
While still studying, Kullar said other people continue to follow the precautions.
“Everyone has to be masked, physically distance, put hand hygiene in effect and prevent those massive parties,” he said.
