Does this news from Down Under give you the impression that you are already browsing? The cruise ship Majestic Princess is now docked in Circular Quay, Sydney, Australia, after more than 800 passengers on board finally tested positive for Covid-19. The ship, carrying some 4,600 passengers and crew, had originally left New Zealand for a planned 12-day cruise. Doing the math shows that at least one in five people has become inflamed with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Of course, this number may be higher as Covid-19 tests can give false-negative results.
The following video from 7NEWS Australia shows Marguerite Fitzgerald, president of cruise line Carnival Australia, reading about the outbreak and answering questions from reporters:
Now, when you hear the words “Covid-19 outbreak” and “cruise ship,” you can go back to the shipping storms that occurred in 2020. For example, there the shipping outbreak of the Diamond Princess cruise ship in February 2020 that Vicky Forster covered for Forbes at the time. And there the outbreak of Covid-19 on the Ruby Princess cruise ship that ended up docked in Sydney. Such an outbreak of cruise ships has left many other people very sick, hospitalized and dead. As a result, that year, cruise operators had to scale back their operations for much of 2020 to 2021.
However, don’t expect a 2020 also in 2022. Things have changed a lot since many other people were vaccinated and vaccinated against Covid-19. A Covid-19 outbreak is no longer the same time of shipment as in the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite what some anti-vaccine personalities and social media accounts will probably tell you that studies have shown that other people vaccinated against covid-19 are less likely to have suffered serious consequences of covid-19, such as hospitalization and death.
According to Fitzgerald, so far all Covid-19 cases aboard the Majestic Princess have been asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic, George Wright reported for BBC News. It is not yet known what percentage of the equipment and passengers have been vaccinated and reinforced. There was a time when many cruise ships required you to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before boarding. But such lawsuits took precedence over furry boots after other people politicized the ship.
However, this does not mean that an outbreak of Covid-19 on board a cruise ship is no longer a big problem. Contracting Covid-19 still carries the threat of prolonged Covid, even if you have mild or minimal symptoms. Becoming a prolonged Covid is definitely no joke, as it can leave persistent cardiovascular, neurological, and other life-changing symptoms. Evidence suggests that the long-term threat of Covid could actually pile up every time you contract Covid-19. In short, any outbreak of Covid-19 will have to be taken very seriously.
Any outbreak of cruise shipping deserves to prompt a thorough examination of what could have been done to save it. Have the surfaces been well disinfected? Were the rooms sufficiently ventilated and purified? Was the equipment and passengers who tested positive for covid-19 detected in time?as if they were sending bricks.

Cruise ships have been and will continue to be vulnerable to all types of infectious disease outbreaks, not just Covid-19 coronavirus outbreaks. That’s because cruise ships can gather cargo or even thousands of other people in relatively enclosed spaces for long periods of time. . People may end up sharing airspace and many items, such as utensils, at buffets. As a result, cruises can be like floating buffets for all sorts of respiratory, gastrointestinal and other pathogens. Therefore, cruise ships deserve to take extra precautions to ensure infection precautions are in place.
So, if you’re making plans for a cruise in the coming months, first check what express Covid-19 precautions are in place. Make sure cruise operators don’t just “say hello” to Covid-19 and, indeed, “the threat of outbreaks. “Colder, drier weather in the Northern Hemisphere can lead to even more COVID-19 outbreaks, increasing the likelihood that someone will bring the virus on board next holiday season. So don’t forget to wear a mask when you’re with other people and maintain social distancing as much as possible. Do not succumb to dock safety and do not expose yourself to unnecessary threats.
