As one of Ireland’s most important cultural events, the Cork International Film Festival will take place from 9 to 26 November and this year’s occasion screens several interesting LGBTQ titles.
The festival is “a birthday party for local, national and foreign cinema”, and the 2023 edition will host some Irish film premieres, adding the highly anticipated All Of Us Strangers, starring Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, and a new queer mystery titled Eileen, starring Thomasin McKenzie and Anne Hathaway.
This year’s selection of films includes six must-see queer screenings. Here’s the full program:
All of us foreigners
Starring Irish actors Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, this film follows the life of a screenwriter living in London who strikes up an intimate relationship with his neighbor Harry. Expect an exceptionally good story combined with stunning cinematography and a spectacular ’80s soundtrack in this equally inspiring film and heartbreaking tale.
All of Us Strangers Sunday, Nov. 19 at The Everyman.
Starring Thomasin McKenzie and Anne Hathaway, this mind mystery set in 1964, Massachusetts, follows a damaging friendship between a young criminal worker and her glamorous new blonde colleague, but everything changes when Rebecca reveals a dark secret.
Eileen will perform on Tuesday, November 14 at The Everyman.
A transvestite activist from conservative rural Russia challenges society “with solitary acts of quiet revolution. “Despite discrimination from her family, the government, and Russian society, Gena survived. The film is in competition for the documentary film Gradam Na Féile Do Scannáin Faisnéise. Award, which will be announced on Sunday, November 26.
Queenom on Wednesday, November 22 in Triskel.
This film follows the dates between a popular delivery man and a photographer. The two men’s friendship turns into a romantic rendezvous in modern Nigeria, where homosexuality is criminalized.
All the colors in the world are between black and white on Friday, November 10 in Triskel.
This John Waters vintage from 1974 follows a rebellious schoolgirl who leaves home and embarks on a life of sex, crime, and modeling. The film has been described as “transgressive cult cinema at its finest: shocking, entertaining, and utterly hilarious. “
Women’s issue on Friday, November 10 in Triskel.
This inverted fantasy story of Conan the Barbarian is a “blood-soaked, glitter-filled show” that follows a young woman destined to become ruthless and barbaric. She lives six lives, destined to be killed by herself. This film is in the running for the CIFF Youth Jury Prize and the winner will be announced on Sunday, November 26.

All of these films will be screened at the Cork International Film Festival, which opens on Thursday 9 November. Tickets can be purchased on the festival’s website.
