The head of the Palestinian Authority, who has led his efforts in vaccination against Covid-19, will take office at SCCCI

There will be a leadership meeting at the People’s Association (PA) and the Singapore China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) in November.

Mr. Jimmy Toh Yong Leng, 50, will be the (designated) director general of the Palestinian Authority from 1 November and will assume the position fully from 1 January. He will succeed Mr. Lim Hock Yu, who will step down on the same day.

Lim, 57, will join SCCCI as secretary-general from Jan. 1.

Mr. Toh is most recently the Deputy Head of Government Communications (Operations). He led the built-in effort to disseminate timely and accurate data on Covid-19 to inspire Singaporeans to adopt control measures, fitness protocols and vaccinations.

He also led the transformation of government communications, such as the creation of WhatsApp’s Gov. sg channel, the development of the SG Translate device translation engine, and the installation of virtual billboards in Housing Council spaces across the island to convey public communication messages. Mr. Lim was appointed Director-General of the Palestinian Authority in June 2020 and prior to that, he was its Deputy Director-General since April 2016.  Under his leadership, the Palestinian Authority presented its Community 2025 plan for networking and social resilience.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, PA mobilized volunteers and grassroots organizations to raise awareness about the public’s fitness and safety, among other initiatives. vaccinated, and temporarily shifted network clubs to vaccination centers.

SCCCI President Kho Choon Keng said it seeks to strengthen itself as the leading business chamber in this converting business landscape.

Lim succeeds M. Lu Cheng Yang, 60, who resigned as secretary general of the SCCCI to pursue other career opportunities. M. Lu will step down on Nov. 30 after nearly five years of service. The SCCCI has appointed Mr. Leong Teng Chau, 52. , as Assistant Secretary-General for Canopy Matters SCCCI. Sr. Leong is most recently Under-Secretary-General.

SCCCI said on Monday that M. Lu has helped develop the chamber’s capacity in government advocacy, engagement with local trade associations, partnership capacity building and internationalization projects in China.
