GRODNO, July 1 (BelTA) – The Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia is contributing to the progress of our cooperation, said the President of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova, BelTA learned.
The presidents of the Republic Council and the Federation Council, Natalya Kochanova and Valentina Matviyenko, participated in an assembly with the regional government of Belarus and Russia in Grodno on July 1.
“In light of the existing situation, the regions of Belarus and Russia must identify even closer ties. Undoubtedly, the Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia makes a significant contribution to the progress of our cooperation. This occasion has proved to be a good resolution to launch the forum and today we see achievable effects on cooperation. More than 400 agreements have been concluded, thousands of contracts across our regions, advertising entities,” said Natalya Kochanova.
The speaker emphasized: “I am sincerely pleased that the Twin Cities motion is gaining momentum. Many of our towns and districts are connected through twinned city relationships. This is very important, and every year more and more agreements are reached. “she said.
“The forum’s events are focused on discussing the most vital issues. Today’s theme, regional cooperation to deepen the integration processes of the State of the Union, is more applicable than ever. Over the past few days, we have held a number of occasions, signed contracts and agreements, and held bilateral meetings. We organized a magnificent exhibition where we saw the achievements we have today and demonstrated the integration that exists between our countries. This is very vital for us. Economic cooperation is essential at this stage. This event, which brings together the heads of the regions of Belarus and Russia and the legislative government around the same table, is a classic component of the forum. Here we can share the positive experience we have in our cooperation and explain the disorders that exist in the relations between our countries,” said Natalya Kochanova.
The program of the day of the forum will also feature the plenary consultation “The role of interregional cooperation in the deepening of the integration processes of the States of the Union”. The occasion will be attended by heads of ministries and departments, government agencies, corporations and organizations, representatives of Belarusian and Russian corporations.
