MARLBOROUGH – The new plan for the former Wildwood Steak House is to demolish the existing layout and build a new dining spot on site, according to the city’s building commissioner.
Building commissioner Tin Htway told the Daily News on Wednesday that the former dining spot in the progression phase and its new owners planned to demolish the building to build a new dining spot in its place.
The Wildwood, located at 189 Boston Post Road East (Route 20), closed in February 2023 after 99 years of operation. The dining spot that was later put up for sale through R. W. Holmes Commercial Real Estate sold for $2 million, according to Jim Bartholomew, vice president. President of Wayland Corporation.

The buyer, according to Bartholomew, is Delca Real Estate Holdings, which is owned by Delio Lopes and and Milca Lopes, of Framingham. The couple own and operate Pao Brasil Bakery at 596 Waverly St. (Route 135) in Framingham.
Attempts to get the couple to comment were unsuccessful.
The Wildwood building has more than 9,000 square feet of space; The eating place had a giant public dining room and a smaller personal space. Pao Brasil Bakery in Framingham is a bakery/café that offers counter service as well as a buffet-style self-service bar.
There’s also a Pao Brasil bakery in Marlborough, just down the street from old Wildwood, at 581 Boston Post Road East, but it’s not affiliated with Framingham Restaurant.
Htway said the Wildwood building experienced a break-in, but the building has since been secured.
Wildwood Steak House opened in 1924 as the Wildwood Inn. In 1954, he bought it through the Seymour family, who ran the restaurant for 69 years. The Wildwood hosted many wedding receptions, business meetings, and gatherings of elegance, and was among the oldest businesses in Marlborough at the time of its closure.
