His goal, he says, is to stick to Trump’s leadership and try to “nullify the electoral formula itself,” noting that there are more than 300 Republicans who deny in the poll in races across the country this year.
“They emboldened the violence and intimidation of the electorate and election officials,” he says, less than two years after a mob of Trump supporters ransacked the U. S. Capitol. The U. S. government to overturn the 2020 result.
“This is the trail of chaos in America,” he says. This is unheard of. It is illegal. And, he’s not American.
Biden’s dire warning about threats to democracy comes six days before Tuesday’s vote, in which Republicans are widely favored to capture the House of Representatives and, in all likelihood, the Senate.
In the wake of a violent attack on the husband of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that dramatically heightened considerations of passionate political rhetoric, Biden is urging Americans to unite in defense of democracy.
“We will have to deal with political violence and voter intimidation, period,” he said.
“We have to deal with this problem,” he said. We can’t pretend it’s going to solve itself. “
The Israel Defense Forces said troops arrested 14 wanted Palestinians and confiscated several weapons in overnight raids in the West Bank.
The raids included operations in the village of Bayt Duqu, home of the attacker who seriously wounded an officer in Wednesday’s attack on a West Bank checkpoint east of the Israeli town of Modiin. The wounded officer shot the Palestinian assailant and killed him.
The IDF claims that the operations in Bayt Duqu broke out riots and stones and Molotov cocktails were thrown at the troops, who responded with means of dispersing crowds.
The 14 suspects were taken through the Shin Bet security firm for questioning.
Religious Zionism MK Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir of Otzma Yehudit will coordinate when they participate in coalition negotiations, public broadcaster Kan reports.
The two far-right factions that competed on a joint list are expected to split after the election.
The report says either committed to the others’ demands to Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who is reportedly seeking to form a coalition temporarily after his right-wing devout bloc appears to have scored a resounding victory.
Smotrich and Ben Gvir agreed that they join the coalition or neither of them does, Kan reports.
Reports in recent weeks have warned that Ben Gvir’s Otzma Yehudit could be expelled from Benny Gantz’s National Unity Party coalition, but the defense minister and opposition leader have publicly rejected the idea.
The Central Election Committee says 91 percent of the votes have already been counted, and the count pushes Meretz just beyond the 3. 25 percent threshold to enter the Knesset.
As it stands, Likud will get 32 terms, Yesh Atid will have 24, Zionism will have 14 MK, National Unity will have 12 MK, Shas 11, and Torah Yahadut will have eight. Ra’am won five seats, Hadash-Ta’al will also have five deputies, Yisrael Beytenu will have five, and the Labor Party will get 4 seats in the Israeli parliament.
The left-wing Meretz and Arab hardline parties Balad remain outside the Knesset.
With about 15 of the double envelopes counted, roughly 105,000 votes, Meretz falls even beyond the threshold required to enter the Knesset.
Meretz now has around 3. 17% of the vote, while the radical Arab Balad party falls below 3%, Ynet News reports.
So far, Meretz receives 2. 4% of double-envelope ballots, according to Ynet, a lower percentage than normal ballots, making it unlikely that the leftist party will have the votes needed to enter Israel’s parliament.
The Central Election Commission began counting more than 600,000 alleged double-wrapped ballots, and eventually discovered the fate of the left-wing Meretz party and the radical Arab Balad party.
Double-envelope votes are cast through members of the security forces, prisoners, patients and hospital staff, diplomats serving abroad, elderly and assisted apartment citizens, and others who voted at polling stations for others with physical disabilities.
According to research by the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI), double-envelope ballots have become increasingly important recently, as their share of all ballots more than doubled in recent national surveys: from 5. 5% in April 2019 to 6. 3% in September 2019, 7. 2% in 2020 and 9. 6% in 2021. In this week’s election, the figure exceeds 12. 5%.
According to IDI, in past elections, double-envelope ballots — which disproportionately constitute a young Jewish electorate — tended to favor right-wing parties and fashionable fringe parties, while particularly disadvantage ultra-Orthodox and Arab parties, which would mean the option of Balad crossing the threshold is thin.
