Divers can dive into entirely new depths without setting foot in the ocean thanks to a multimillion-dollar facility that has just opened in Poland.
With an intensity of more than forty-five meters (about 148 feet), Deepspot is the most internal pool in the world, containing 8,000 cubic meters of water, more than 20 times the amount of a pool of 25 meters.
Designed as an education and practice site for divers of all levels, it charged around $10. 6 million to put it into effect and the structure procedure took more than two years.
The impressive design features a simulated “blue hole” that descends to its inner point, and even a small shipwreck, as well as synthetic underwater caves and Mayan ruins that divers can explore.
“There are no magnificent fish or coral reefs here, so this is not a replacement for the sea. But it’s definitely a smart position to be informed and exercise to dive safely in open water,” Polish diving instructor Przemyslaw Kacprzak told the AFP at the launch of Deepspot in the city of Mszczonow, less than 50 km from Warsaw.
“And it’s fun!”
There is also an underwater tunnel for spectators, while from December 14 a series of “rooms with views” will be available on site at an intensity of five meters.
Deepspot was allowed to open despite strict Covid-19 regulations in Poland, as it is an educational center that offers courses that a popular group.
Although basically intended for divers, director Michal Braszczynski told the AFP that the facility can also be used as an educational center for firefighters and the armed forces.
Diving enthusiast Braszczynski also owns FlySpot, a popular indoor paratrooper simulator in West Warsaw County, Poland.
Until recently, the Y-40 Deep Joy, located in the Hotel Millepini, near Venice, Italy, known as the most internal swimming pool in the world for its intensity of 42 meters.
However, Deepspot took the title, but for a long time.
The newly structured 50-metre-deep Blue Abyss in Colchester, England, will claim honor once it is launched.
The facility, designed through architect Robin Partington, was scheduled to open this year, but this was postponed until 2022/early 2023 due to the pandemic.
