The COVID-19 federal phone application will be available in Saskatchewan: Moe

REGINA – Saskatchewan Prime Minister Scott Moe said he plans to make the federal COVID-19 tracking app available to citizens in the coming weeks.

The COVID Alert smartphone app warns the user when they have been in close contact with whom they tested positive for the new coronavirus and shared their results.

Saskatchewan’s fitness officials said that for the app to be activated in the province, Canada’s Department of Health and Health will have to reach an agreement.

Moe announced Wednesday that his government had evaluated the implementation and signed it.

“This will be one more tool that other people in this province will have to make sure we fix . . . Let’s flatten the curve and continue to slow down the spread of COVID-19,” the Prime Minister said at a press conference.

Ontario has followed the application, as has Alberta.

Quebec announced last week that it is not yet in a position to propose to its citizens to download the app.

Saskatchewan reported two new infections wednesday and says there are 29 active cases in the province.
