The county will take over the state site COVID-19

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The state’s COVID-19 verification is expected to leave the National Guard arsenal at Columbus Municipal Airport until the end of August, while the county monitors network verification.

That’s according to an July 17 email sent to local health officials by the Indiana State Department of Health, Bartholomew County Health nursing division director Amanda Organist said.

During the first two weeks in May, the ISDH worked in conjunction with Optum, an international health care and management company, to open up to 50 free testing sites, according to news accounts.

Over the next two and a half months, state fitness officials did not need to check local fitness because counties were inundated with case investigations and similar work, Bartholomew County Commissioners organist said Monday.

But now that the state has taken over investigations and tactile searches, IHSHR is asking fitness officials in all 92 Indiana counties to initiate COVID-19 controls, he said. The state’s existing contract with the armory to receive the check will expire at the end of August, he said.

State fitness officials have asked the county to inform the IHDI if it would be willing to provide network evidence. On Monday, county commissioners voted unanimously to settle for that responsibility.
