The coronavirus pandemic in Belarus is over, but it’s time to relax

MINSK, Jan 11 (BelTA) – The coronavirus pandemic in Belarus is almost over, however, neither the country’s citizens nor fitness staff deserve it for now, Belarusian Health Minister Dmitry Pinevich has learned.

Dmitry Pinevich: “Today we are talking about pandemic classes. We are used to the scenario evolving temporarily while we respond temporarily. The pandemic has taught us another format of data exchange and work. The pandemic is almost over, but we can’t relax. Because we have entered the age of viruses.

According to the Minister of Health, Belarus is experiencing a tridemia (a triple threat). Dmitry Pinevich said that the coronavirus maintains a very low activity but that there is the challenge of the influenza virus and respiratory viruses. As a result, it is basically young and old who have health problems on those days. The occurrence rate dropped in part because young people were on school holidays.

Dmitry Pinevich expects the existing epidemic scenario in Belarus to remain so until February. “The recommendations remain the same: wear a mask in medical facilities, ventilate rooms and lead an active lifestyle,” he said.

Vaccination has played a vital role in stabilizing the epidemic situation. Vaccination covers all categories of the Belarusian population. “Active vaccination against coronavirus and influenza is underway. Since 2009, we have vaccinated 40% of the population against influenza and almost all children. We have vaccines and answers for all existing viruses. There is no need to wait for the medicines to arrive and distribute them. We are in a position to face any challenge,” Pinevich said.
