The Brazilian Confederation of Sports for the Visually Impaired (CBDV) has canceled all occasions scheduled for the remainder of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
CBDV stated that it was not imaginable to level opportunities without risking the fitness of those involved, given the prevalence of the virus in Brazil.
Brazil has recorded more than 129,000 coronavirus deaths, just behind the United States, and reported more than 40,000 new cases.
Football, judo, goalball and power-erphilia competitions have been cancelled.
All occasions affected to take a position at the Brazilian Paralympic Training Center in Sao Paulo.
Currently, only table tennis, athletics and swimming activities can take position due to protective measures put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus, CBDV said.
The first cancelled occasion is a football tournament that is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 14, while the last is the Brazil Powerlifting Cup, scheduled for November 21 and 22.
CBDV President José Antonio Freire said the organization follows the rules of the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
The fitness and well-being of everyone involved in organizing events is CBDV’s most sensible priority, Freire emphasized.
