Istanbul – CIA now supports the theory that the coronavirus pandemic can be an accidental laboratory leak in China, that a herbal transmission of a rainy market, according to a report by The New York Times on Saturday.
The change of the CIA towards the laboratory escape theory, because the origin of the pandemic is not in a new intelligence, but a reevaluation of the existing evidence, the authorized authorities said with the factor, The Times reported.
The report indicated that the agency’s analysis includes a closer examination of conditions at high-security laboratories in Wuhan, China, prior to the outbreak.
A CIA spokesman said that other theories remain credible and that the company continues to compare any new credible intelligence, according to the report.
The CIA has long maintained uncertainty about whether the pandemic originated from human exposure to an infected animal or a potential incident at a research lab in China.
New CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who was nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the US Senate earlier this week, approved the declassification of the agency’s new assessment.
Ratcliffe has argued for a long time that the virus probably left a leak at the Wuhan Virology Institute.
After his confirmation on Friday, he declared in an interview that one of his first priorities that the firm revealed a public evaluation of the origins of the pandemic. (Anadolu)
